Recently I was invited by the lovely team at Luxasia to have a first look at NARCISO, Narciso Rodriguez’s highly anticipated sophomore ladies fragrance. On the back of his successful first female fragrance, For Her, I was excited to see what was in store for the brand. I have long admired the designer’s clean lines, sleek and modern style.
NARCISO is a dedication to his family and more – it is not just his name, it is also his father and grandfather’s name. In the words of the designer, “One can’t help but think of the Greek myth of Narcissus. There are…so many romantic narratives suggested by it.’’
Inspired by a picture of my favourite onscreen couple, Carrie and Big from Sex and the City, (which I remember from the ultra romantic feature of them in the June 2008 issue of Vogue – just magical!), Narciso Rodriguez’s vision for NARCISO was to explore the mystery of attraction and create a fragrance that exemplified femininity, elegance and glamour.
If you considered For Her a sweet feminine fragrance, then NARCISO is the grown up version – strong, confident, classy.
Like For Her, NARCISO is musk focused. In addition, NARCISO has floral notes from the beautiful bulgarian rose and gardenia plus wood notes of black & white cedar and vetiver to add a touch of sophistication and duality.
I have loved musk ever since I can remember. Sometimes the musk element can make a fragrance overpowering but in NARCISO, the fragrance is subtle yet strong enough to be sexy, mysterious, refined. It now has a permanent spot on my list of must haves!
Raquel Zimmerman is the face of this fragrance, chosen for her “passionate femininity, “fresh natural beauty and supreme confidence”, representing the Narciso Rodriguez woman perfectly. Indeed a perfect choice, I was mesmerized by her classic beauty.
I love the luxe bottle of NARCISO, which would beautify any vanity. Going with his essential colours of black, white and nude, the cube shape stems from Narciso Rodriguez’s fascination with cubes to find “dual forms that would meld as one…’’ while the stone white colour of the bottle was matched to a stone that he found in Cypress visiting Aphrodite’s birthplace.
The story behind NARCISO’s creation, its mesmerizing scent, down to the clean lines of the bottle makes it difficult to resist! NARCISO will be available from September 2014. The Eau de Parfum will retail from S$97-S$177. xoxo
I have such a difficult time with perfume because I get tired of the smell within 5 minutes. With all the praise that you’ve given this perfume, maybe I should give this a try. 🙂
